Go to slideshow 14-21 January, 2008: The Gyalwang Karmapa visited the Central Institute for Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath on January 14 and 16. He was greeted by the director, Prof. Geshe Ngawang Samten and the director, faculty, workers, and exchange students from abroad offered His Holiness khatas. His Holiness gave a talk on relying on the mind rather than becoming overly dependent on technology.

On January 15, His Holiness visited Dhamekh Stupa, which commemorates where the Buddha began teaching the dharma. He led Khenchen Yongzin Thrangu Rinpoche and the monks of the Vajra Vidya Institute in the monlam prayer. The Karmapa subsequently left Sarnath for Delhi, and returned to his temporary camp near Dharamsala on 21 January.

24 December 2007: The 25th Anniversary Great Kagyu Monlam concluded with an Alms Procession. On the 24th, gelongs and gelongma engaged in a Procession of the Kangyur. On the 23rd, His Holiness held a press conference, at which he stated that his wish for the Monlam was to create an environment of world peace, where participants would not experience conflict, and would be at ease in their prayers. Medical Camp Established in Bodhgaya by Monlam Committee

Go to slideshow18 December 2007: The 25th Anniversary Kagyu Monlam has established a medical camp to provide aide during the Kagyu Monlam ceremonies. The medical camp is staffed by doctors and support staff from Taiwan, who are working nonstop to alleviate the suffering of the local community by providing free medicine and treatment for local people. Bodhgaya, the holiest site of Buddhism in the world, contains many people in desparate straits, too poor to afford even the most basic medical treatment or medicine.
