HH Karmapa Returns to Gyuto Ramoche Temple (March 2, 2008)

Finishing his stay in Clement Town at Mindrolling Monastery, HH led final pujas in the third week of the parinirvana ceremonies of HH Mindrolling Trichen, Rinpoche, and returned to his temporary camp in Gyuto Monastic University, with stops at a school and temple along the way.

After his stay in Clement Town at Mindrolling Monastery, HH responded to the requests of surrounding monasteries and representatives from neighboring Tibetan settlements to visit and bless them.

HH Karmapa welcomes the New Year of the Earth Mouse (February, 2008)

His Holiness celebrated Tibetan New Year at his temporary camp at Gyuto Ramoche Temple in Dharamsala, India. Later in the day H.E. Situ Rinpoche visited Gyuto to usher in the year with His Holiness. The Karmapa also composed a message for a New Year's card available from our website.

 

Arrival in Bodhgaya Novmber 17

Karmapa's Activities in Bodhgaya and Varanasi in November, 2007 through January, 2008

Multiple photogalleries at this link chronicle the extensive activities of His Holiness at the 25th Annual Great Kagyu Monlam in Bodhgaya in 2007. The Karmapa's beneficial work began on 17th November, when His Holiness arrived at Tergar Monastery in Bodhgaya, His Holiness was welcomed by hundreds of shedra monks from different Kagyu monasteries, who had assembled at Tergar for the 11th annual Karmae Gön Chö.

The Monlam was held from December 17-24th. This was the 25th Anniversary, and His Holiness instituted new protocols and inspired an incredible display of generosity and compassion in Bodhgaya for the ceremony. His Holiness concluded his stay in Bodhgaya with a major address on the connection between the Monlam and the environment in Bodhgaya.

Afterwards His Holiness moved his camp to Vajra Vidhya Institute in Varanasi, where he was welcomed by Thrangu Rinpoche and his monks. While in Varanasi he visited the Alice Project International School, Deer Park in Sarnath, where the Buddha first turned the Wheel of Dharma, and the Central Instituted for Tibetan Studies of Samprunant University. He returned to Dharamsala on January 21, 2008.

His Holiness visited Dechen Chokhorling Mahavira (DCM) from 21-25 October, 2007. His Eminence Choegon Rinpoche invited His Holiness to consecrate the main shrine hall and its core Buddha statue.

HH Karmapa Celebrates Award of Congressional Gold Medal to HH Dalai Lama (17 Oct 2007)

His Holiness Karmapa joined peoples worldwide, and the Dharamsala community in particular, in celebrating the award of the US Congressional Gold Medal to the His Holiness Dalai Lama, the highest civilian honor in the United States and another recognition of His Holiness Dalai Lama's exemplary peaceful, non-violent approach to the issues concerning the peoples of Tibet, and indeed, all beings.

Long Life Ceremonies in September 2007

Karma Kagyu monasteries and monastic and lay sangha gathered at Gyuto Tantric University in Dharamsala for a ceremony for the long life of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa. The Tsedup ceremony was preceeded by a week-long Tenshug prayer practice of Buddha Amitayus for the long life of His Holiness.

In August and September, His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche arrived at Gyutoe Ramoche Temple, the Karmapa performed a special smoke offering puja this morning for the peace of the people and the country of India, met with the Their Eminences Situ Rinpoche, Gyaltsab Rinpoche, and Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and accompanied by His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche to an audience with His Holiness Dalai Lama.

Gyalwang Karmapa's Activities in July 2007

In July, the Gyalwang Karmapa met with Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, who was in Dharamsala to represent the Nyingma Lineage at the Tenshug for His Holiness Dalai Lama. The Karmapa also received a Kalachakra transmission from HE Gyaltsab Rinpoche and was Chief Guest at the debates at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah.

On the auspicious day of the 6th of July, His Holiness Karmapa visited His Holiness Dalai Lama's palace early in the morning to offer his respects and good wishes for the celebration of the Dalai Lama's 72nd birthday (Western calendar).
