His Holiness Activities - April - May, 2007(Photo Index to other galleries of the photos of HH Karmapa's activities) Guyhasamaja Teachings from HH Dalai Lama (May 19-30)Their Holinesses Gyalwang Karmapa and Sakya Trizin attended His Holiness’ Dalai Lama's teaching and commentary on Guhyasamaja at the Tsuglagkhang. Over 2600 people attended the teaching, including more than 2000 monks and nuns, and 169 foreigners. To receive the empowerment, attendees were required to have already received the Guhyasamaja Initiation as a pre-requisite to these advanced teachings. Inauguration of Gyuto Monastery School (May 9, 2007)On May 9th, His Holiness inaugurated and consecrated the newly built Gyuto monastery's classrooms, which are located within the Gyuto Monastery complex. The classrooms are equally usable by both young monks in the first through fifth grade, and Geshes undergoing the complete studies on advanced Buddhism. English and Science will be mandatory subject. Gyuto Monastery's Khen Rinpoche offered a mandala to His Holiness and served sweet rice and tea. The inauguration ceremony concluded with the famous multi-tonal Gyuto chants. Summoning of Prosperity (April 24-26, 2007)His Holiness conducted a puja for the "summoning of prosperity" on April 24. The ceremony continued over three days at Gyutoe Temple. Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche was also present. His Holiness and Tenga Rinpoche summoned the dralas with Drupon Rinpoche (General Secretary) Ngodup Palzom (His Holiness sister) and Drupnag. The puja concluded with auspicious ambience. - Tashi Paljor His Holiness at the 2007 Mind and Life Conference in Dharamsala (April 9-13, 2007)His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa attended the conference of Mind and Life, Dialogue on The Universe in a Single Atom, held at His Holiness Dalai Lama's residence. Headed by His Holiness Dalai Lama, the Dialogues were held from April 9th till April 13th, at the request of Mr. R. Adam Engle, CEO and Chairman of Mind and Life Institute, and General Coordinator of the Mind and Life Conference. The Mind and Life Dialogues were created as an experiment to determine whether a rigorous scientific exchange could occur between modern scientists and Dalai Lama. The experiment was successful and over the ensuing decade, regular dialogues were organized among the world renowned scientists, the Dalai Lama and other contemplatives. Currently the Mind and Life Institute is a recognized world leader in emerging scientific investigation of the effects of contemplative practices on brain, behavior, and translation of this data into effective tools to benefit people in all walks of life.
